The St. Thomas’s Choir sings for Sunday morning and special liturgies during the program year, offering anthems, canticles and psalms. The choir includes volunteers and professional section leaders. Its repertoire is drawn from the rich tradition of Anglican choral music, spanning many centuries.
Substantial works performed in recent years include Britten’s Rejoice in the Lamb, Vaughan Williams’ Five Mystical Songs, Wood’s St. Mark Passion, Parry’s Blest Pair of Sirens, Duruflé's Requiem, Haydn’s Missa Sancti Nicolai and Tallis’ Spem in alium for 40 voices. The choir has a continuing reputation for choral excellence, and has been invited to sing services at Westminster Abbey, the Chapel Royal, Windsor Castle, Gloucester Cathedral, Saint Thomas Church, Fifth Avenue, New York City, and Washington National Cathedral. The St. Thomas’s Choir rehearses on Sundays at 9 a.m. and from 11:30 a.m.–1:00 p.m., from September to June. New members are always welcome; an ability to read music and prior choral experience is desirable. Listen |
